Yoga: Exploring the Eight Limbs through Practice and Theory

May 9 - 16, 2009 with Lorraine Taylor
January 10 - 17, 2009 with Sara Granstrom and Lorraine Taylor

About the Retreat

Yoga is a method meant for personal growth, a tradition that strives for optimal health and a feeling of wellbeing on all levels. This retreat offers a great opportunity to deepen your personal yoga practice and your understanding of yogic philosophy.

Each day will start with breath work and yoga asanas (Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, led class, and Mysore style). During the afternoon sessions, we will delve deeper into the understanding of yoga and discuss "the eight limbs of yoga," as presented in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, perhaps one of the most important texts on the subject. The Sutras are a great tool for self reflection, personal growth, and enhancing yoga practice.

Is yoga simply something I do on my mat, or does it have a greater purpose? What does yoga say about life and our personal interactions in this world? And more . . .
