Where is the teacher?
A dozen cliches can revolve around these well know phrases:
"When the student is ready the teacher appears."
"The teacher is within."
"The teacher lies in your heart.’’
"Then there is my personal favourite (because I say it!) "Your big toe is your guru."
Clichés aside there is some real truth to all of these. (Especially the one about the big toe.) It's really a case of development over time. At an early point one craves the guidance and ‘being taken care of’, but you find you must begin the process yourself. Through that comes a maturity and a readiness for a teacher to show up, because of your own inner readiness. This relationship, assuming it is built on integrity, trust and genuine knowledge, helps to reveal that inner wisdom; the teacher within. Just as you grow from a child with a level of high dependence on your parents to a questioning teen to a mature and typically equal adult, so it is in this relationship. But just as many of us think we know it all in our teens or even 20’s, a similar delusion exists in the student. Often without even having built such a relationship, students can assume they have done enough or that they simply don't need a teacher. Instead they assume the attitude of ‘what
more is there to learn anyway?’ Or ‘hey, well, the teacher is within!’ So to quote my own teacher (Tiwariji) of 13 very close years: "If you take to the yoga path then the teacher is a must."
With that in mind, take some time to be a student: practice, study. How a relationship develops has its own timing and magic but never undercut the showing up, daily doing and checking in. I hope that through our courses and programs at Samahita Retreat along with these various new mediums of social media, we are giving you enough opportunities.

Upcoming Programs at Samahita Retreat
You can stay at Samahita Retreat and customize your time, depending on the dates you are available and what you are interested in doing. You may arrive early for a program or stay on later, and also choose whether or not to be a residential guest. All our facilities and services are fully available to you while staying with us.
Yoga Residential is our all-inclusive residential option. It includes your chosen accommodation, all meals, and both morning and afternoon yoga sessions.
Wellness Programs include your chosen accommodation, the yoga sessions and food appropriate for the wellness program of your choice, as well as all specifics of your cleanse/detox program. We have three wellness programs to choose from, depending on what level of detox intensity you opt for.

The Healthy Weight Program
The Healthy Weight Program offers you a diet that is both nutritious and delicious, guides you through a manageable exercise program, re-educates you on how to eat and helps you to address the cause of your weight gain. Special Continuing Education: Philosophy and Pranayama Pranayama and A Look Into Buddhist Philosophy with Sri O. P. Tiwari and Paul Dallaghan
The primary focus will be Pranayama practice with in-depth pulse reading of each student, varying as necessary. Daily asana practice will be overseen by Paul and assistants and we will cater for all practices in a self-practice room, those in classical Ashtanga and other approaches.
