Samahita Retreat - Newsletter January 2012
Dear friends,
I hope you had a positive entry into this New Year. At an earlier stage in my life I used to look at this change of year as a real time to make a change. It helped and even worked. As I set my mind clear and looked at what was of value for me in life, what I was aspiring to and what was I ready to let go of and change. It has been a valuable process. Every New Year's Eve at our center as part of the celebration we have a fire ceremony where we close off the old year, saying good bye and gaining closure by offering it all into the fire. We then we open up the new year with a similar offering. The fire itself is a purification process and with the help of mantras it can be supportive in this development. However, it comes down to the level of sincerity in each individual's heart: how willing are you to put in the practice and to action these changes and developments?
For many years now this turning of the year has held less emphasis as I have noticed that it is happening each day. Why wait? There is a great consciousness behind the year change with so many people also thinking in this way, so psychologically it is a great motivator to help you make a shift. When you really start to live it you will see that it is part of each and every day. You can do this through daily contemplation and self-reflection. Start now. For me this is where gratitude, forgiveness and asking for help became a daily thing because it was, and is, a real need.
I wish you the best for the New Year, but more for each new day.
