A leader in the field of yoga education, Centered Yoga has been offering thorough and professional courses since its founding in 1999. Paul started Centered Yoga in New York City, and moved to Thailand toward the end of 2001. We resumed teaching the courses the following year, and out of this grew what came to be known as Yoga Thailand-the venue for our yoga retreats, training courses, and, most recently, our wellness programs.
Over the years Centered Yoga has helped train more than seven hundred students, many of whom have gone on to teach. For all, even those who decide not to teach, the training programs are a time for deep practice and growth in the understanding of yoga.
Our senior teacher, Neil Barker, joined us in 2004, quickly becoming an influential member of our training team. We also have esteemed guests who teach alongside us: notably, our primary teacher and yoga master, Sri O. P. Tiwari. He has been fully supportive since the first course and remains a constant source of inspiration and advice. He believes in the programs and recognizes the need for this level of training, practice, and learning by students, especially those that go on to teach others.
Centered Yoga makes its home in Yoga Thailand-a center established specifically to practice yoga and learn healthy and positive living habits. This, in itself, is a unique advantage. Yoga Thailand provides an ideal environment in which to learn, experience, and practice the lessons imparted in our courses. Few such places exist in the modern world.
The fact that we are one of the first schools to become a member of Yoga Alliance is attractive to many students, especially those who take our courses as a platform from which to teach. We offer 200- and 500-hour level qualifications. Furthermore, Centered Yoga has its own high standard of qualification that a student reaches at the 1100-hour level, whereby they qualify as a Distinguished Advanced-Level Teacher.
Our purpose is not to churn out teachers but to guide, inspire, and uplift students of yoga. We therefore look for sincerity as a primary qualification, the inner quality that allows a student to approach his or her personal development and the practices in an earnest and mature way.
The teacher training foundation course runs over a month's period and is the program that we've become known for. Graduates of it have found it to be a uniquely immersive and transforming course, and it is well respected for its integrity and depth. Upon successful completion of this program, students receive a 200-hour-level certificate, by which they can register with Yoga Alliance.
The foundation course covers Asana, Pranayama, anatomy, philosophy, teaching techniques, and other topics, to give a well rounded learning experience.

The advanced courses are held throughout the year, and involve in-depth Asana practice combined with close examination of key themes, such as Pranayama, philosophy, or anatomy. These programs are open to all sincere and interested students. Graduates of our teacher training foundation course, or other courses of similar level, will earn 50 to 100 hours' credit per course to advance their qualification level.
