About the Retreat
This retreat serves as an introduction to understanding and performing Thai Massage. Thai Massage and yoga are closely linked in concept and practice, it is even called Thai Yoga Massage in the West. The concept of nadis finds an equivalent in the sen lines of Traditional Thai Medicine and the recipient is assisted in doing stretches similar to Asanas.
Now you can study this ancient art while working on your yoga practice with expert teachers and start to connect the two practices in your life and your career. You will learn techniques and stretches you can use right away with clients and friends and be ready to continue with professional level studies if you find you have a passion for Nuad Thai Booran (Ancient Thai Massage).
In addition to Thai Massage, the morning sessions will be breathwork-pranayama from the Kaivalyadhama Tradition followed by Asana/postures and vinyasa/movement with breath from the Ashtanga Vinyasa Tradition. The morning classes will be led by Samahita Retreat resident teacher Rachel, and the highly skilled Ricardo Neuman will lead the afternoon Thai Massage sessions.
About the Teacher
Ricardo
Ricardo Neuman was first introduced to Asian arts and therapies in the 1970’s in California. His 28 year career as a body therapist has always gone back to the yoga, martial arts, Asian therapies, and meditation he started learning then. Living in Hawaii for for 23 years he studied and practiced sports and therapeutic massage, Shiatsu, Hawaiian Shamanic massage, and Cranial Sacral Therapy. Since first studying Thai Massage at Wat Po in Bangkok in 2004 he has continued his studies since moving to Thailand in 2005. Ricardo has a degree in Health Education with a minor in Human Anatomy and Physiology. Yoga Thailand has offered Ricardo’s services as an Expert Bodyworker and Thai Massage teacher since 2008.. Rachel
Rachel has practiced and had interests in various styles of yoga since 1999, and felt that all of it led to a greater understanding of her current practice. She completed her Centered Yoga teachers training with Paul in 2005 and has returned regularly to SYT over the last 5 years.
Her main focus in teaching is to create an appropriate intelligent bridge to the dynamic form of Ashtanga, breaking it down so that each person is practicing to their own level and reaching their potential.
She has taught in London, and more recently in Sydney focussing on courses, workshops and Mysore classes. She uses her experience from her daily yoga practice, workshop intensives in yoga therapy, back bending and inversions combined with Thai massage experience for a holistic approach to teaching and when giving adjustments to share the joy of yoga.bio.

We only have two deluxe one bedroom suites located in our most private building closest to the sea. They have a private bedroom, living room, fully equipped kitchen, generous bathroom and an extra large balcony. Both suites offer a modern open living room with sofa bed, LCD TV, working desk and DVD/ iPod Stereo. They are perfect for a family or couple. The additional rate is a flat rate based on the room and is added on to the total rate package whether a single individual, couple or family.
Our guestrooms are set back just over 50 meters from the water to provide you with a private community and greater security. A selection of our rooms enjoy this spectacular sea view, while others enjoy the tropical gardens scene.

I did the 5 day combined detox. I found it very beneficial to my practice and my overall health. I think it is important to give your digestive system a break and clean it out. The Wellness Centre cater for your every need, they are so organised that you don't have to think, just go with what they offer and enjoy it. I never felt hungry and my energy was quite good throughout the detox. The best part was that I found I connected more to my practice and my breath. The whole process was fun and interesting.
