Yoga Retreat with
Sonja Rzepski
We
are so pleased to have Sonja visit Yoga Thailand during
June 2008. Sonja is a long time student and friend
to us since our New York City time. She is warm, talented,
open hearted and a loving spirit to be around. We hope that
you can join Sonja during her special visit to Thailand.
About
Sonja

Sonja
is a proud year 2000 graduate of the Centered Yoga Institute. She
has been working in the health and wellness field since
1994. Certified through the American Council on Exercise
as an athletic trainer, specializing in women's health,
she was introduced to yoga by one of her own students.
This student brought her to Paul Dallaghan's class, a worthy
introduction to the practice.
From that she was directed to the Ashtanga system at the
Patanjali Shala in downtown
NYC. Finding how yoga moves us toward internal and external
balance, it soon became clear that it would always be an
integral part of her life. Centered Yoga inspired her
to the commitment of teaching yoga, an important part of
her practice, and for keeping grace in her life. Still
an Ashtanga practioner, she is forever grateful to the great
living yoga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois.
Sonja, now a busy working mom, strives to empower her students
to find mindfulness and balance in everyday living. Extensive
certification in pre/postnatal exercise and yoga has given
Sonja the privilege of working with numerous mothers and
babies. She believes this experience continues to deepen her
faith in the potential for every being to grow toward the
light in all our actions.
About the retreat
Morning session: ASHTANGA INTENSIVE
An in-depth look at the Ashtanga system of yoga. This thousand
year
old traditional practice has been called the ultimate yoga
therapy and
has been accredited to being the birthplace of the vinyasa
style. This
specific series of postures is linked to create an intense
internal
heat, which is both purifying and illuminating to the consciousness.
It is said to create a light strong body and clear mind. Often,
Ashtanga has the reputation of being only for the very fit,
but this
is not true. Yes, Ashtanga will bring balance and fitness to
the
dedicated practitioner, but Ashtanga taught in the correct
traditional
way is also accessible to a wide range of people. So whether
you are
now ready to begin, or have been doing it for years, this intensive
will introduce you to an empowering level of practice.
Afternoon session: RESTORATIVE AND HEALING INTENSIVE
This intensive explores the true nurturing quality of yoga.
We will
tap into the body and mind's innate ability to heal itself,
working on
breathing and restorative postures that will bring release
and
freshness to the soul. Stress reduction techniques will be
taught with
the idea that these techniques can be integrated into the home
and
work environment. Everyone is absolutely welcome to show up
for these
classes as they are completely safe and effective for all.
