Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training
Learn in detail the art of teaching pre and post natal yoga
July 25 - August 1, 2009
with Sonja Rzepski
*This course qualifies for 50 hours continuing-education credit toward Yoga Alliance 500- and Centered Yoga 1100-hour training standards. A 50-hour certificate pertaining specifically to prenatal yoga will be issued upon successful completion.
About the Retreat
Do you know which poses must be eliminated during the second and third trimesters? Or that a pregnant woman should not lie flat on her back after her sixteenth week? This course brings to light practical lessons such as these while detailing the major principles of teaching pregnant and postpartum students.
Using case studies from real life to help elucidate the complexities of teaching this special kind of yoga, this course prepares you to teach a prenatal class with skill and confidence, whether in a group setting or one-on-one.
You will learn about safety issues that affect both mother and child. You will learn how to teach certain poses and breath-work exercises that are beneficial during labor, and how to address common and not-so-common challenges of pregnancy. After the course you will be in a better position to share your knowledge with women at a profound moment in their lives. This can be an opportunity for great joy and affirmation.
There will be a written and practical exam at the end of the course.
About the Teacher
Sonja Rzepski is a Centered Yoga graduate who teaches and lives in New York City. An Ashtanga practitioner, she works as a yoga teacher and personal trainer (through ACE, the American Council on Exercise) specializing in women's health and wellness issues.
