About Sara

I was born in the north part of Sweden but have been living in Stockholm since 2000. I began my path as a classical musician with studies at Malmö Music Collage and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Music has always been a great part of me and a strong infuence in so many ways, I have also met some of the most important people in my life through music, for instance my partner Karl, who is a gifted percussionist in the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stockholm. It is probably impossible to play music without being in contact with something spiritual inside you and when I first came to yoga I was amazed how similar the yoga practice was to the practice of an instrument, it is all there: the work, the focus and the joy.

That was in 2001 and I was at a crossroads in my life. I left music because of the strictness and the competitive atmosphere I experienced, yoga on the other hand was offering the opposite: love, forgiveness and the promise that you are ok and perfect just as you are.

I did my Teacher Training at Yoga Thailand in the spring of 2005 and felt strongly connected to the center and the way the teaching of yoga is being offered here. I have the biggest respect for the practice and for all the people that for thousands of years have been carrying the teachings on, making it possible for me and many more to be a part of it today.

I am very grateful to Paul my teacher and mentor, and to Jutima and the rest of the teachers and staff at YT for supporting me on my journey!

Since 2006 I have begun Ayurveda studies together with Johan Ljungsberg (one of the founders of Veda Lila www.vedalila.se in Stockholm) and Dr. Vinay Vora (ayurvedic doctor from the Jamnagar University in India). In addition I have been studying nutrition at a private school in Stockholm, focusing on functional medicine, anti-aging medicine, environmental medicine.

Food is medicine (same idea as in Ayurveda) and the goal is to try to keep things as organic and natural as possible. Because of the mass production of provisions a lot of the vitamins and minerals in the food get destroyed and a lot of people suffer from malnutrition despite the fact that they eat 3 meals a day. My education is aiming to educate therapists so they can help people improve their intake of essential micronutrients.

When I’m not at YT I teach yoga full time at the following places in Stockholm: www.yogayama.se, www.ashtangayogashala.nu, and www.stockholmdayspa.se
