Yoga, Health and Self-Empowerment

Beauty from within Yoga, Ayurveda and Holistic Nutrition

October 13 - 20, 2012

with Rachel Grey and Dimple Arora

About the Retreat

Our senior resident teacher Rachel Grey teams up with author and holistic health adviser Dimple Arora in a unique retreat to educate and empower you to live a balanced lifestyle.

Holistic Diet and Nutrition Principles for Physical Well-being. Practical, engaging, interactive sessions introducing you to the holistic principles of Ayurveda, identifying your unique metabolic type and presenting diet & lifestyle balancing measures for each type.

Defining and Enhancing Beauty with Ayurveda: Tapping into "hidden source of beauty" and enhancing it physically with natural resources. Practical demonstration of rejuvenating concoctions for the skin, hair, teeth, eyes, amongst others.

Beyond Ailments and Diseases: Dealing naturally with physical and emotional imbalances in daily life, which are a precursor to chronic diseases if left unchecked. The use of herbs, diet, lifestyle and positive spirituality as remedial measures to cure, harmonize, strengthen and balance the individual on all levels of health on a daily basis.

The experience of "beauty" often involves the interpretation of being in balance and harmony with nature. This will be explored in our yoga practice; how to harmonize with what is, finding acceptance of what is already there within us, and then to evolve organically from that to transform. To develop and grow, step by step like all things do in nature.

Starting from the root of core support, movement will be explored within the Asanas in greater synergy with the natural movements and rotations in the joints, exploring undulations and one or two techniques from belly dance to loosen up stiff hips and shoulders for more freedom flow and fun. This will suit those beginning a yoga practice, or wishing to deepen it with Ashtanga & Restorative Asana, Breathwork / Pranayama being the foundational core of the practice.

About the Teachers

Rachel Grey

Yoga Practice and Personal Transformation retreat Koh Smaui, Thailand

Rachel has practiced and had interests in various styles of yoga since 1999, and felt that all of it led to a greater understanding of her current practice. She completed her Centered Yoga teachers training with Paul in 2005 and has returned regularly to SYT over the last 5 years.

Her main focus in teaching is to create an appropriate intelligent bridge to the dynamic form of Ashtanga, breaking it down so that each person is practicing to their own level and reaching their potential.

She has taught in London, and more recently in Sydney focussing on courses, workshops and Mysore classes. She uses her experience from her daily yoga practice, workshop intensives in yoga therapy, back bending and inversions combined with Thai massage experience for a holistic approach to teaching and when giving adjustments to share the joy of yoga. "Beauty is not merely that which you perceive in the mirror. Beauty is that which you add to the world. Beauty depends on good health. Good health depends on a strong immune system. A strong immune system depends on your choices."
