Yoga: The Joy of Practice

September 15 - 22, 2012

with Elonne Stockton

About the Retreat

In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.

All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.

Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

Please join us!

Testimonials

The detox was very easy and perfectly organized.

Samahita Yoga Thailand is an extraordinary place where you are taken care of. I was on a ten day detox and received so much care, support and advice from a team of people who genuinely wanted to help. Everything about SYT is authentic, the staff, who become your friends, the cleanliness of your room, which becomes your home and the wonderful communual areas, where you can relax in comfortable tropical surroundings listening to the waves on the beach. The treatments available are first class, and the Yoga does more than stretch your hamstrings. But if you want to discover how beautiful this place really is, and how it can help you in ways you never imagined, I suggest you book now, I promise you will not regret it. Do something wonderful for yourself.

It was my first detox. I found it an intense experience, mentally and physically. You realize lots of things, your body metabolism changes, and your thought processes too. You go through phases and learn to accommodate. You end up slightly changed and more aware of the connection between what you eat and how you feel. We are what we eat aren't we?

Dear Paul,
I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to say this to you in person before you left, but I sincerely wanted to thank-you for all your time, effort and expertise that you offered during the past 3 weeks of workshops you held at Samahita Yoga Thailand. You have truly created an environment that is so easy to completely focus on yoga and how it relates to more than just the asanas. And I really enjoyed your down-to-earth approach and explanations. Personally, this experience was exactly what I needed and I feel so inspired to continue to learn more and grow in my practice - However, I must admit that it feels a little daunting to do so in conjunction with work, and in my very tiny village where no one else practices - but I'm optimistic. (If you ever post a sound recording of one of your lead classes, can you please let me know?). I do wish I could have stayed longer and I hope to return in the near future if I can save enough money again. I really just wanted to say that I truly respect and appreciate what you have dedicated yourself to and shared with others. Again, Thank-you.
Kindest Regards,
Sarah, 2011

I am really happy that I took the step to come to Yoga Thailand and do the detox program. For a long time I had difficulties and pains in my stomach and I believed that I had food allergies such as gluten and lactose, but avoiding those foods did not help. At Yoga Thailand I was told it could be Candida. I followed the Candida diet here and feel better. I will continue to eat foods that are good for me.
