Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.
Please join us!
About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

I was surprised on the detox that I did not get very hungry-the way the juices, supplements, cleansing salads and broths were spaced out, I felt full(ish) throughout the whole week.

Many, many thanks for a beautiful experience at Samahita Yoga Thailand! Your warmth and hospitality turned a nice
vacation into a wonderful experience. I can not express the gratitude I feel for the guidance you provided,
Paul, in helping me to regain a practice I felt I had lost in my car accident. Thank you for your teaching,
and for encouraging my progression.

Thank you very much for providing me with such an unforgettable experience of lightened body and mind. I would also like to thank you for the warm atmosphere that is created with the help of all the personnel and Wellness Director! I will for sure come back!

Claudia is an amazing teacher; very good at explaining everything to us while pushing us to do better. I joined the Healthy Weight Loss & Yoga retreat mainly to relax and give my body a rest from the bad habits (alcohol, bad food, smoking). Smamhita Retreat really exceeded my expectations and gave me an overall understanding of how to eat healthily while keeping fit. I loved the yoga classes, the morning running, fitness classes and the amazing treatments. Would definitely come back for more!

After a very difficult time of depression I managed to find inner serenity and a more relaxed state of mind again, a certain detachment of my problems and a new appreciation for the beauty of life. Anxiety and emotional pain began to dissolve with the wonderful combination of Detox, Massage treatments, Yoga and Meditation. The team is beautiful. Thank you.
