Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

About the Teacher
Elonne Stockton
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. Testimonials
Despite being on the Faster's Detox Program I never felt hungry. Samahita Wellness kept us well nourished and feeling healthy, fit as a fiddle with fantastic juices, therapies and yoga sessions. I am truly motivated to make positive changes in my life after this trip. I will definitely aim to make this a regular trip.

It has been nearly two months since Cookie and I came to your institution to study yoga, although this is was the first time we had studied any yoga we were made to feel extremely welcome and had an amazing time. Its not often in life that one week or one place can change a person in so many positive ways, but this is the effect that Samahita Yoga Thailand has had on us.
Our time at Samahita Yoga Thailand has shaped in so many ways, especially with your wonderful food that we have tried (with varying levels of success) to recreate at home.
Thank you so much for helping us discover such a wonderful and invigorating lifestyle. I would like to wish you every success with your new centre and are already very excited about returning to study with you soon.

I truly enjoyed having Claudia around. She was very helpful, explained patiently and clearly all points and questions, a very good teacher. I would recommend the Detox & Yoga retreat to others and I already see myself back again real soon.

Claudia is a great and insightful teacher, very helpful and kind. Samahita is a very relaxed and clam retreat destination; authentic yoga classes with a knowledgeable teacher and very peaceful if you want to come and rest your mind.
