Yoga: The Joy of Practice
September 15 - 22, 2012
with Elonne Stockton
About the Retreat
In this retreat, we will develop our self-practice of yoga asana and breathwork - pranayama. At the same time, we will explore where the practice of yoga comes from, what the different elements of the practice are and why we practice yoga to begin with.
All levels are welcome. This is an opportunity to be in yoga, to live it, to immerse ourselves in the practice of yoga. It is a chance to be in a healthy and uplifting setting with like-minded people, learning about the practice while building something solid that we can take with us to enrich our lives. Get in it, and develop a love and appreciation for the practice. The joy is ours to celebrate; it is already in us.
Throughout the week, we will have morning breathwork - pranayama, intention setting, chanting and asana practice (led asana and self practice classes), afternoon discussions and restorative asana classes, and of course lots of bhakti/devotion! Some mornings there will be additional silent walks or walking meditations, and some evenings we will have optional kirtan, satsang and other activities.

About the Teacher
Elonne has been a committed yoga practitioner and devotee since the early age of 14. She has lived and taught in the Bahamas, Canada, India, the United States, and Taiwan where she has taught asana, pranayama, and meditation at yoga studios, ashrams, resorts, schools, orphanages, hospitals, and clinics.
In 2006, Elonne moved to Asia, where she met her teachers, Paul Dallaghan, O.P. Tiwari, and Richard Freeman.
As Elonne's understanding of the practice grows, she feels more and more like a beginner, and she is excited to continue this journey. She feels blessed by the opportunity to teach at Samahita Retreat, and she is extremely grateful for the chance to help others while she continues her own studies. For more see her full bio.

Claudia was great. Very knowledgeable and calming at the same time which made the week feel very supportive. I'm very happy I chose to spend a week doing this for myself. I didn't know what to expect and it wasn't always easy, but in the end it was worth the time and energy to get back on track.

I feel squeaky clean and transparent after the 7 day detox-super light and full of energy
P.S. Hats off to all the ladies at reception-Tan and Mew, and the other therapists who have their hands full with people on the detoxes asking for stuff all the time and always keeping a smile on their faces even when the centre is busy and buzzing.

Thank you for everything. Never expected it, but it was life changing for this 'naughty' and 'down to earth' woman! It exceeded my expectations - and I lost 6 kilos and gained a lot of positive energy and creativity.

This is my second time doing Detox at Samahita and both times the experience and the results have been amazing. I not only lost weight, but felt lighter physically and mentally. I was able to re - connect with my body and really get rid of all the toxins. The place, the teachers, the trainers and the whole staff really made my detox a great experience. The wellness center staff is amazing.
