About the Retreat
The key to yoga is to practice. Without it any amount of study is fruitless. From practice comes growth and empowerment. But the key is to practice with understanding and awareness. Many go on in practice year after year without understanding the finer aspects of the body and mind and how they need to be considered and integrated in to what we do in practice.
Here is an opportunity to look further at what you are doing in practice, whether you are just starting your practice or are growing it deeper. Food is the make or break to what you do. You could spend an hour everyday doing asanas and through eating incorrectly that work could be wasted. Thus, through the food we eat here and the discussions on it we will aim for a better understanding and application of it. Of course, food focus will also be about it being delicious and tasty. So we will look at food with yoga from the point of view of its nutritional and energetic or subtler aspects.
With yoga practice, primarily asana, we often misunderstand the body or are confused about how it works in a natural and efficient manner. With some anatomy expertise offered to enlighten us on how the breath works with the body and what all those muscles and joints are really doing the aim is to get a better understanding of the physical as we map it from the energetic. Neil is an expert in anatomy and understanding it with the yoga practice.
We of course will continue the yoga practices, starting or growing students in the ashtanga practice and incorporating breathwork and restorative practices also.
This course is open to all levels of students.
