Registered Dietitian & Nutrition Director
Andrea has had a passion for cooking, baking & learning about other food cultures her entire life. Growing up playing competitive national softball, she started to develop more of an interest in food & how it affects the body. She made a decision to fully commit to a professional career in nutrition while hiking along the coast of Italy on a 2 month solo backpacking vacation throughout Europe.
Once returning to the States, she enrolled at Bastyr University which specializes in Ayurveda & Natural Health Education. This gave her the solid foundation in biochemistry, clinical disease state assessments, nutrition counseling & whole foods cooking. She completed her undergraduate program in Nutrition & Didactic Program in Dietetics in 2011 and was immediately accepted into the Sodexo Distance Dietetic Internship. Throughout her internship, Andrea gained knowledge & experience in hospitals, dialysis clinics, senior living centers, corporate nutrition offices and school food programs. Upon completion, she passed the Dietetic Board Exam to become a Registered Dietitian.
Andrea's future goals include combining the yoga practices at Samahita with her knowledge of well-balanced diets with her co-workers and guests to help them make the best lifestyle choices possible. She enjoys talking & teaching others about food almost as much as she does eating it!
