About the Training Course

The growth of yoga worldwide is largely due to the practice of asana. Everywhere you go today you can find a yoga studio following one style or a mix of others. There is a whole body of philosophical and cultural work behind this practice. We have all heard of the Gita and Yoga Sutras as the key texts behind yoga but it is not too easy to find reliable, educated sources to study them with. Especially those who have been learning them all their lives.

Here is a perfect opportunity to dive into the philosophy and culture behind yoga. Practice, learn and celebrate much of the great gifts of yoga from India. The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali are the key philosophical presentation on yoga while the Bhagavad Gita is the greatest discussion and insight on yoga. They are both classical works in Sanskrit and chanting them gives the best feeling and connection.

Our guest teachers are experts in Sanskrit being a few of the leading Professors in the field in Mysore, India and they have been immersed in these texts all their life with wonderful insights to share. Correct pronunciation and smooth chanting would be part of the learning. It is a unique opportunity to go deeper in practice through increased understanding.

In addition, Paul will lead the Asana sessions so that practice receives its proper focus too.

Overall a truly enjoyable affair, a mini-India festival here in Yoga Thailand.

The first week will focus on the Gita and the second on the Sutras. We recommend both weeks for a good immersion but one week options are possible.
